The loft is mostly used as an "office" or musical venue. Occasionally someone sleeps on an air mattress up there. Below the loft is the kitchen and bar. The kitchen cabinets are hickory and locally made, and the bar top is a four inch thick walnut slab from up on the Leelanau Peninsula.

The two baths on the main floor have a shower and whirlpool tub. The basement bath has a shower.

The living room has cherry flooring and cedar paneling. The mantle is a black walnut slab, and the brackets and fireplace tools were made by a local blacksmith.

All of the surface materials in the house are locally sourced, with pine, aspen, and cedar paneling, cherry, maple and walnut flooring. The cabinetry is hickory and custom made, locally. The exceptions are the granite countertops and the flooring for the loft (Ipe).

Bar in the basement
The wet bar has been a gathering place within the house. The walnut slab bar top is an attraction and a great place to hang out, have a beer and discuss the day's adventures.

View of the porch from the living room
The large picture window faces the woodlands and the lake, and brings the interior of the house closer to the natural world in which it is placed.
The enclosed porch is wonderful. We very much enjoy the enclosed porch at our house, and realized it would be a focal point for the Bird Lovers Paradise. The goal was to make it comfortable in all but the coldest winter times, and as close to the surrounding woodlands as possible.
Each bedroom has a queen bed, dresser and night tables. The master bedroom has a dedicated bathroom with whirlpool tub.
Fireplace and Living Room
Most of the furniture was locally produced and there is an interesting collection of original art, including a number of nature lithographs by renowned artist Ray Harm.

The house is situated on a 5.5 acre parcel on the western shore of Misty Cove. There is 160 feet of lake frontage and two docks on the property.
